Glue is the adhesive material used in daily life due to its adhesive properties.. One feels curious about the fact that once out of bottle, it is so much sticky and adheres to almost anything but no such property is shown, when in the bottle. What is the reason behind it?
An excellent article published in Explain that stuff explains this behavior.
actually different adhesives achieve this property in different ways:
One way is that the glue's sticky component is dispersed in a solvent which keeps it from joining together and once you apply it to the desired surface, the solvent evaporates leaving behind the adhesive part which then gives the stickiness desired.
Another way is to supply the raw materials of the adhesive in separate tubes (As in case of epoxy adhesives). Since non of the raw material is adhesive alone hence no issue at all. Once the two components are mixed together, adhesive is formed and there you go!
